Meng Li Jun's (Michelle Yip) father Meng Shi Yuan (Lu Hai Peng) was a royal doctor for the previous dynasty and an educated man. But his thinking was very traditional and believed women were virtuous if uneducated. Li Jun dressed up in men's clothes and went to school for more knowledge.

When Li Jun was wandering about, she meets the grandson of the Mongol Emperor (Khan) who was visiting Jiang Nan in disguise, Tie Mu Er (Joe Ma) and the honest Huang Fu Shao Hua (Raymond Lam). The three become sworn brothers.

Mu Er knows that Li Jun is a woman but does not reveal it while Li Jun has feelings towards Mu Er as well.

Shi Yuan was thinking of giving Li Jun's hand in marriage to the son of his friend in the Huang Fu family when the wealthy Liu Kui Bi (Zhang Song Zhi) also asks to marry Li Jun.

The date of the marriage was arriving quickly and Li Jun decides to tell Mu Er of her feelings towards him. Unfortunately, Mu Er's father is deathly ill and he had to return to the capital. He turns over the details of his next meeting with Li Jun over to Shao Hua. Li Jun is very disappointed and sends Shao Hua away.

To find her own happiness, Li Jun leaves her home with only her maids. She wanders around, causing some silly incidents as well as getting connected with some dangerous situations in her mode of dress. (men's clothes)

Li Jun separately has familiar, yet distant relationships with both Shao Hua and Mu Er as well as finding out that Shao Hua was her fiancée and Mu Er is the descendant of royalty ...
