Gwong Chau - As they say, "A great man would have a great son". Because of this, the people thought that Chan Daai Hei (William So) would be an outstanding lawyer like his grandfather Chan Mung Gat. In truth, Daai Hei was a person who only cared about eating, drinking and having fun. Consequently, Daai Fun (Flora Chan) ended up having happiness one moment then nothing the next. Fun's fiance Lo Bo (Derek Kwok) was put in jail and she signed a contract to go to Hong Kong to become a "Ma Je". She used the money made from this job to hire Daai Hei to represent Bo in court. Daai Hei originally didn't have the right 'stuff' to become a lawyer so Bo was convicted and was sent off to the army. Fun hated Daai Hei to the bone and when she went to get even with him, she found that he had gone to Hong Kong!

Hong Kong - Daai Hei's soon to be father-in-law Yung Dak Sing (Kwok Fung) is a rich man in Hong Kong. He used money to help let Daai Hei become a "peaceful gentleman". Daai Hei hired a good "Ma Je" to cook dishes from his hometown. What he didn't expect was that the person he hired was Fun! Faced with an opportunity to get revenge, Fun took advantage of it and always cooked the food so that it would be nearly impossible to eat, causing Daai Hei to cry out in misery.

"Peaceful Gentlemen" also had the responsibility of helping maintain order in the society. Unfortunately, Daai Hei didn't understand the first thing about investigating cases. Although he had a manager named Ng Sam Saang (Jeung Ji Gwong) helping him, Daai Hei still managed to make everything into a mess. Every time, he needed the clever Fun to help him solve the case.
